Champions In My Eyes.

Regionals for tennis went great! Actually better than great, they were fantastic! We took first place, and everyone played in the finals...well, except me in singles. But that's a different story that I don't want to talk about. Still can't beat that girl from Pima, even though I know I can. Also, Kayla and I lost our doubles match in the finals against Pima. Once again we couldn't beat them. To be honest with you, we didn't play our best. We could have played so much better. We were just having a rough day. So I am the only one who lost both matches on our team. Woohoo I'm a loser! But everyone else won their finals matches. It was a great win for us. We went in with everything to lose, our team was the team to beat, we didn't let that happen though. Eastern Arizona still remains on top. I'm so proud of my team! We have worked hard and it shows. Hard work pays off.

I was happy that my parents, oldest sister and nephew were able to come and watch me. It was great having them there. I got to share what I love with them. They enjoyed it as well. Faces were placed with names, and more stories were told. My nephew is the cutest too. He loved watching me play, and also loved it when I played with him. The playing went both ways.

While in Mesa for Regionals, on our down time we would go to the mall across the street from our hotel. We had some funny experiences while there. We are just a funny group of girls. But window shopping was fun. If I was made of money, I would have owned all the Nike shoes I saw. Kindra and I went to all the sports stores while the other girls looked at clothes. Kindra and I both drooled over all the shoes that we saw. One of the nights Sally, Pedro, Kindra and I went and saw the movie 42. The movie is about Jackie Robinson the Dodgers baseball player and what he went through as a black baseball player. It was such a great movie and we all liked it. We all like baseball too, and not just because the boys look good in their baseball uniforms. The movie was so inspiring though.

Now we just keep practicing for Nationals. There will be a lot of different teams there from different states. I hope we do well! I know we will! Nationals are during our final exams week. So we all have to schedule our finals for the week before. After Nationals are done, we are done with the school year. So crazy to think that I have almost completed one year of college. It has been a great experience and I have loved every part. I can't wait to come back and start my second year.

Enjoying The Life I'm Living.

I know its been awhile and I apologize. College studies and tennis have kept me pretty busy the past weeks...er...I guess months.

Where do I start? Well- tennis is going amazing! We went undefeated in our conference, and we are ranked 6th in the nation. As a team we couldn't be any more proud. We worked hard for this and we achieved what we set out minds too. The hard work doesn't end though. On Monday and Tuesday we have regionals. So on Sunday afternoon we will make the drive to the Mesa area. I am excited also because my parents and one of my sisters and nephew are flying down to come watch. They haven't been able to watch me play at all this season. It is killing my mom, she was always at my high school and tournament matches. She was and is my biggest fan. I call her after every match to tell her how it went and she understands everything. I can't wait for them to see how I have progressed. I want to make them proud. After regionals we have nationals. Nationals are on the last week of school, May 4-10. Also known as finals week. Lucky us, we have to take all of our finals early. Thinking about all of this makes me so nervous. I literally get sick to my stomach. I want to do and play my very best.

I am super excited for next semester. I have signed up for my classes and have my living arrangements all figured out. Next semester we will lose Maja and Pedro from the tennis team. I will be sad to see them go, but we will forever be friends. It is nice that we are only losing two people. Then my coaches don't have to make up a whole new team. But the year after that....they will lose the majority of us. I bet that is tough on a coach. Almost like starting new.

Going home for my brothers wedding was great. The one thing I got told a lot was how tan I had gotten. I don't see myself, but when I looked at a picture of my brother-in-law and me, I was super dark. The wedding went well and was very nice. I am happy for my brother. Although it is weird to think that he is married now. That only leaves me and my brother just older than me. Don't get any thoughts though. Nothing is going to happen anytime soon.

When I think about how long I have lived down here in Arizona and how independent I have become, it is weird to me. I live in an apartment with roommates, I make my own food, I have to discipline myself and make myself do certain things. My homework isn't going to do itself. I still get nervous about certain things but I am doing great. I am far away from my parents but I am still able to call them or Skype. I am not really home sick. Which I'm sure my mother hates but I still love them. I think it was my time for a change. I have grown up a lot. I am happy with the person I am becoming and the paths I am taking. I wouldn't be here if it weren't for my family and the way I was raised.

During spring break some of us got very bored since we were many of the few people left on campus. So we decided to go play some tennis in the evening. Weird how tennis players want to play tennis huh? We had a really fun time. Kayla and I of course dominated against Sally and Patricia. Don't be embarrassed by my Scooby-Doo boxers. They are worn often. Those who might have heard or been watching us, might not have expected us to be on EAC's tennis team. We were goofing around and cracking jokes, plus we were all wearing different sorts of clothes. We had a blast though.

Kindra and I practically live in the library. We are in there from dusk til dawn. Kindra often watches movies or tv shows on Netflix while I am trying to type my 10 page research paper. One day she watched about 6 episodes and I was still stuck on page 2 of my paper. She kept making fun of me. Research paper writing is a hard task. Especially when my A.D.D starts kicking in. Don't worry though I have all 10 pages now and I got it done early. But when Kindra and I are in the library we look like we have been living there. All our books are spread out, papers everywhere, and our laptops open, with the occasional fruit snack wrapper on the table. Needless to say, we get a lot of our work done.

On Sunday we had our usual roommate dinner. Crystal and I were the only ones home for the weekend. Sunday was pretty much a chill day, we did a lot of crafty things....well Crystal did crafty things, I sat and colored in my Scooby-Doo coloring book most of the time. Crystal and I have so much fun, we crack each other up. For dinner we decided to have spaghetti. It was such a nice day outside that I suggested that we eat dinner outside. So we did! We moved our little table out behind our apartment and passed the food through the window. Best idea ever.

After one of our matches we went to the mall in Scottsdale. It sorta reminded me of the Gateway in Salt Lake City. The only two stores that I cared about were the Nike and Apple store. If  I had a million bucks I would have bought all the shoes in the Nike store. I almost started to drool they were so good looking. Pedro, Kindra and I went into the Apple store and checked out the iphones and such. Of course our main reason was to charge our phones. We would undock a new iphone and replace it with ours to charge. Then we had the great idea of taking pictures of all our faces and setting them as the home and lock screens of all the iphones and ipads. We were dying laughing at all the funny faces we were making. Priceless. We seriously walked out of the Apple store crying of laughter.

Forever LCKstrong.
