Its Been Real. And Its Been Fun. But It Hasn't Been Real Fun.

What to write about....people keep asking me what I've been up to since I've been home for the summer. I honestly answer, "Nothing". That is the truth. I have done nothing. I have been trying to get another job, but out of the 9 applications and 1 interview, I have received no further direction towards a job. I currently have one job but during the summer there aren't as many events going on. When the Weber County Fair arrives in August I will receive a lot of hours which will be nice. But not enough to get me the money I need to pay rent once I go back to school. Unfortunately it doesn't pay itself. I do have other random jobs like mowing a couple neighbors lawns, teaching some kids tennis, and later on in July I will be selling corn for my neighbor. My parents have been willing to pay me to do some jobs around the house which has been nice. So at least I have some income rolling in. It looks like I will have to get a job when I get back to AZ. Hopefully I can handle it with school, tennis and actually having a life. I hope I can at least make it a semester before our season actually starts and we are traveling. I sure wish money grew on trees. It would make life so much easier. But obviously life isn't easy. Its a struggle to us all, in its own different way.

It hasn't all been job searching and housework though. I do find time to enjoy myself and live my life. My friend Caitlin and I have weekly adventures. One day we rode our bikes along the river trail. It was a 20 mile ride, and it was a blast just to cruise, talk and laugh. Every Monday night we also go to the free movies that they show at the Ogden amphitheater. So far we have seen Madagascar 3, The Lorax, and this last week it was The Amazing Spiderman, but the weather was sketchy so we decided we didn't want to risk it. A lot of people go and it is very enjoyable. We pretty much have a reserved spot with our names on it. This coming Monday its The Little Rascals! How could you not pass that up?

Every year up in Logan there is a bike ride called, The Little Red Ridinghood. It is an all womens bike ride. This year my mom, sister and I rode in it. There are different mile lengths for which you can sign up. 18, 36, 50, 70 and 100 miles. We did the 50 miler. It was so much fun. There are so many different women who sign up for it. Over 3600 women signed up this year. From road bike teams to older ladies on their cruisers to people on tandem bikes. You see it all. My mom and sister road their road bikes while I was on my mountain bike. I obviously stood out a little because everyone else is on a high tech road bike, but I love my mountain bike and ride it well. I was passing ladies right and left. I even got some compliments for doing the on my mountain bike. I just had to work a little harder but I have the legs and determination to do it.
This is us at the finish line 50 miles later.

Towards the beginning of summer I went backpacking in Zion with my brother, sister and brother-in-law. I had a blast. I want to go hiking all the time now. I love the adventure feeling and being out in nature. It was hard work but we survived and made it through. We hiked Angels Landing, saw the Narrows and backpacked to Kolob Arch. Angels Landing was by far my favorite. It was such an adrenaline rush climbing all the way to the top. The view was amazing and I would definitely do it again. I felt like I was on top of the world.

Other than that I've literally done nothing. Just being me and loving it. Oh and occasionally playing with my nephew when he comes to visit.

Be Strong. Live Free. And may the odds ever be in your favor.
