I'm almost done with my 2nd week and still everything is going great! The homework load has increased which just makes me work harder. Yet again this year Kindra, Patricia and I live in the library. And yes we do get our work done. The library is a place where we all focus, plus we all have Human Anatomy and Physiology together so we work on that homework. Kindra is always watching something on Netflix while she is doing her homework. I don't know how she does it. I would just focus on what I'm watching not my homework. She gets a lot of her work done though. Crazy. Music is my poison of choice while doing homework. It keeps me upbeat, and my mind flowing.
The first week of school we just met as a team each day to get to know each other and make sure all our paper work was in. This week we have been conditioning everyday. Tennis usually consists of a tennis court, racquets, and tennis balls. We have yet to put all those together. We have run lines on the courts, swung our racquets at imaginary balls and been tossing balls to each other or ran to them to work our hand eye coordination. That was just for one day out of the five days in our conditioning week. The other days have consisted of a workout circuit, swimming laps in the pool the directly after running the stairs and ramps around the Fine Arts Building. Today our coach was gone with Volleyball (she is the assistant coach) for a weekend tournament. But, unfortunately...we still had practice. First weights class that we have every Tuesday and Thursday, then we were told by coach to run 25 laps around the Fine Arts Building. Last year we would often run laps around that building, running up and down the stairs and up and down the ramps that crossed our path as we made a circle around the building. Never have we done 25. At most like 5 laps. Of course that was after we had already been practicing for 2 hours. We figured 25 was the magic number because today is also our coaches birthday and she turned 25. Even though she and our assistant coach were gone and will be until Monday, we got together and did our 25 gruesome laps. It may sound easy...try it and you'll change your mind. One more day of conditioning and then we will be able to hit a ball! You have no idea how excited I am. Sally and I are sick of coming home sweaty and tired. (This was after our pool/running practice. We ran still wet so sorry for the see through tank...) But sometimes we go and get snow cones to make us feel better.
Let me introduce you to my team a little. Sally, Kindra, and Patricia are all returning sophomores like I am, and then we have two new girls, Mckenna and Maizy. Mckenna is also from Utah! From Logan, UT to be exact, and Maizy is from Mesa. So far we have all gotten along well. It definitely isn't going to be like last years team but no team will ever be the same. I just hope our team comes together well and has a great season like last year. Last year we went undefeated during our season, were 1st in our region and took 7th at Nationals. We are on top and I hope it stays like that. We have everything to lose, while the other teams have nothing to lose. If we work hard and give our all, we can live up to our expectations.
We took a team photo after weights this morning. Except Kenna was taking a test and missed weights so she is also not in the photo. But there will be plenty more in the future. You will meet her soon enough. From left to right...Kindra, Patricia (Patty), Sally, Maizy, Me. Kenna not pictured.
Like I stated earlier I love my classes especially my EMT class. The only thing I am nervous for is the two 12 hour shifts that we have to do later on. One on an ambulance and the other in the ER. But if this is what I want my life to be about, I will have to get used to it.
My life is adventurous so I hope you have committed to the ride. Keep your hands, feet and mind in at all times. Be prepared for anything. I'm loving life and everything in my future. I push everyday to live the life that I want. No one is stopping me. I'm full steam ahead.
Peace Love and Prosper. You are worth it.
